Money spent isn’t always wasted

GOING to a cafe to spend $18 on avo on toast is so 2017.

According to this week’s batch of breathless articles about how terrible anyone under 35 is, lazy Millennial­s are now pissing away their house deposits by having their overpriced breakfast foods delivered to their doors.

According to figures from investment app Raiz, Millennial­s spend more than $740 a year on food deliveries and Uber fares.

And they’re splashing out on flashy clothes they can’t afford through buy now, pay later schemes. The wasteful scoundrels spend $540 a year on Afterpay, according to research by ING.

All this reckless spending on such pointless fripperies is preventing them from using money for its one true noble purpose — scraping together a house deposit so they can owe a fortune to a bank for the rest of their lives.

We’re conditione­d to believe homeowners­hip is virtuous; it’s the gold standard for being a good citizen.
