Program big on culture, heritage
ON Tuesday, May 8, Kentish will celebrate Family Day Care Week at Jingili Park with a Teddy Bear’s Picnic.
The organisation is asking participants to bring along a plate of food to share, along with a picnic rug.
Kentish conducts monthly cultural and heritage programs for children five years and under, with cultural and heritage adviser Dale Austin and family day care managing director Luisa Morfe.
These programs encompass culture and heritage through various traditions, painting, exploring artefacts, traditional food tasting, ceremonial customs, music, movement and excursions. These programs have been designed with a play-based learning approach and Kentish would like to ex- tend an offer of assistance to all early childhood education services who are seeking to introduce a cultural and heritage program into their service and scheme.
Kentish are excited to announce that after their successful September 2, 2017 cultural and heritage seminar, they will be presenting at this year’s Family Day Care Australia 2018 conference.
Dale Austin and Luisa Morfe will deliver a presentation on how to go beyond tokenism and offer techniques on how to create a successful cultural and heritage program.
Kentish currently has availability for children in their family day care services, from people aged six months to five years of age in the Palmerston and northern suburbs areas.
You can join their free monthly family day care excursions, in which the children are encouraged and are able to participate in a variety of playbased learning activities and programs that will enhance all areas of their development.
Contact the Kentish office for the applicable dates and the yearly program.
Kentish educators attend at least two sessions of professional development training each month.
Professional development focuses on enhancing an edu- cator’s knowledge and experience on health and safety, child development, programming, learning environment and personal wellbeing.
Kentish has now expanded throughout the NT with offices now located in the Katherine and Alice Springs regions. Both regions are also in the process of commencing recruitment for qualified educators wishing to start up their own family day care service.
