Harry gets to know the in-laws

-

UK: Prince Harry’s new parents-in-law are a reclusive former TV lighting director who lives in a beachfront home in Mexico and a yoga-teaching social worker who his fiancee Meghan Markle describes as her best friend.

As the final countdown to his May 19 wedding to the former American actress gets under way, Prince Harry is getting to know his new, divorced in-laws — Ms Markle’s 73-year-old father Thomas Markle and her mother Doria Ragland, 61, a social worker who lives in Los Angeles’ Windsor Hills.

Prince Harry has met Ms Ragland and reportedly talks on the phone to Mr Markle.

Mr Markle will be walking Meghan down the aisle at St George’s Chapel, while Ms Ragland will stay with their daughter on the night before the wedding at a secret location before travelling by car to Windsor Castle on the day.

The pair will also be flying to England a week before the big day so they can be introduced to the royals, including the Queen, Prince Philip, Prince Charles and his wife Camilla, Prince William and his wife Catherine.

Kensington Palace revealed that Ms Markle, who came to prominence in the TV series

Suits, would not have a maid of honour, and that all her bridesmaids would in fact be children.

“Ms Markle has a close-knit group of friends and did not want to choose one over the other,” a palace spokesman said.

It was also revealed all three siblings of Prince Harry’s late mother, Diana, would attend.

Her sister Lady Jane Fel- lowes will give a reading, Lady Sarah McCorquodale will attend, as will Diana’s brother, Charles, Earl Spencer, who famously attacked the Royal Family at Diana’s funeral.
