Strong field for equestrian

Nomination­s are now closed for the equestrian program of the Katherine Show.

Nomination­s are slightly up from last year, in particular dressage, which is great news for all involved.

The equestrian competitio­ns will kick off on Tuesday 17 July with dressage commencing at 8:00am in the LJ Hooker Arena.

Dressage will continue Wednesday July 18 from 8am through to 3pm making way for

Australian stock horses, Pony Club and some open showjumpin­g.

The stock horses will be in the running for the NT ASH Bred Award.

The points taken as the highest aggregate from led, hack and working section of the ASH show. Events will continue through Thursday July 19 including led, rider and western. Friday will include hacking and western events and following the Grand Parade at 1.30pm showjumpin­g will commence. Saturday will conclude with open show jumping.

There are some amazing trophies up for grabs for the Supreme Champion Led, Supreme Champion Hack, Supreme Champion Rider and Champion Showjumper.

Included in this year’s show events are showjumpin­g, led, ridden, hack, western and several novelty events such as fancy dress and the very entertaini­ng Ride/Drive Spectacula­r.

Don’t forget there will be plenty more horse action during the campdraft which starts on Thursday July 19 and runs through to Saturday July, 21. There will be some amazing trophies as well as prize money exceeding $10,000.

The finals of the Campdraft will be held on Saturday at 9am onwards.
