Games at play?

A LITTLE over three months ago Minister for the Arafura Games, Ken Vowles announced the appointment of then Darwin City Council event manager, Kylie Salisbury, as Director of the Arafura Games. With just on nine months before the Games start, Ms Salisbury has suddenly left the job and popped up back working with the Darwin City Council and the Government has appointed two consultants to take over. In the meantime costs have gone from $4 million to $6 million. Should taxpayers be worried?

Hungry war chest

WE all know getting re-elected doesn’t come cheap. Bushie was chuffed to get an invite to the Parap Festival Under The Stars next week and a night of indulgence with exclusive off-menu dishes from the village’s local restaurants. But then came the cost – $150 a head to dine with Chief Minister Michael

Gunner. The kicker if you did not bother reading the invite all the way to the end — all proceeds go to his re-election campaign.

Fashion faux pas

SOME confused fashionistas have had to enjoy their days at the races without the preeminent Territory style guru this year.

Georgina Murphy, who writes her popular Territory rig column for the Sunday Territori

an was left out of the judging for the Darwin Cup Carnival’s Fashions Of The Field. While the others who took her place were no fashion slouches, it is clear nobody knows Territory style like Georgina — leaving many perplexed at why she was left off the list of judges.

One-stop shop

ONE tourist who stopped off to fuel up at United Service Station in Katherine was shocked to see a poster promoting a 6c fuel discount for AANT members. The Queensland tourist thought AANT stood for Alcoholics Anonymous NT and it was an incentive to for alcoholics to join up and get the help they need. When you think of it, it’s not a bad idea really.

Daryl rides high

BETWEEN riding on the horses last weekend

Daryl Braithwaite took time to read the NT News. He was beside himself at the front page which screamed “Ab-duck-ted” and went on to tell the tale of ducks which many believe were stolen by aliens. He held the paper up telling the throng at the amphitheatre — “take a bow whoever did this.”

Argy bargy

THERE appears to be a bit of a spat brewing between Territory Thunder coach Andrew Hodges and a well-known sports reporter. Hodges, whose team has won just three games hit back in his column inside yesterday’s NT News amid criticism of his side’s performance. Despite their disagreements, however, it is understood the duo hold a mutual respect for each others’ work.

Big names face off

SANDPAPER-GATE duo Cameron Bancroft and David Warner will be on opposing sides today at Marrara Stadium when they take on each other in the NT Strike League. Territorians never took their alleged crimes too seriously and Bushie hopes they feel the same way. Bushie promises anyone who can get a photo with Bancroft and the iconic “Why I’ve got some sticky near my dicky” NT News will be next Sunday’s pic of the week.

Whoops, wrong number

FORMER teacher turned-videographer Elise

Fenna made the No.1 fatal mistake for a small business. Elise printed the wrong number on her business cards. Bushranger understands the offending number will connect you to a bloke called Clint who featured on episode 4 of Towies, which you can watch on Netflix. If you are looking for someone to take video for you, call AU.D Visuals on 0429 633 662.
