BEN REICHSTEIN, 29 YASMINA REICHSTEIN (NEE ABDELALE), 28

It’s your typical boy meets girl story as Ben and Yasmina first crossed paths a decade ago when Yasmina worked at Boost and Ben worked delivering stock to her Casuarina store. After exchanging numbers through friends, the pair had their first official date at the scenic Mindil Beach sunset markets. Little did they know they were just a few hundred metres from where they would eventually tie the knot almost a decade later. After five years, the couple bought their home together and were settled into each other’s rhythm and beat, as Ben got a job with Parliament and Yasmina pursued her career as a pharmacist. It was Yasmina’s dream to have some sort of fairytale, and Ben did his best as he braved his own fears of heights to propose to Yasmina at the iconic Neuschwanstein Castle, making the most of a European holiday. “She didn’t expect me to propose on a holiday, but she expected it for that time, because we’d been together for so long so it wasn’t a complete shock,” Ben said. The pair was incredibly happy with what proved to be a memorable holiday. Ben found the most picturesque place to propose in front of the famous Disney castle: a bridge high off the ground which had the couple shivering. “She always wanted a fairytale, that was the plan and it was a bit corny but it worked out all right,” Ben said. With Ben from Tennant Creek and Yasmina from Adelaide, the couple were married in Darwin with about a hundred guests, including many who’d made the journey from down south. The ceremony was held on the SkyCity lawn and topped off with the Territory sunset in the background. Again following their roots, a European honeymoon saw the newlyweds travel to Greece, Croatia, Spain and Portugal for some new flavours and adventures, before settling back into their fairytale together back in Darwin.
