CentreNATS turns on some high-octane fun
THE second day of the Red CentreNATS in Alice Springs saw people from near and far gather at Blatherskite Park to witness the spectacle.
Throughout the day, spectators saw off-road jump demonstrations, grass driving, hot wheels stunt driving exhibitions, as well as a wide variety of events and competitions.
A popular exhibition was the show ’ n shine display, which saw motor vehicle enthusiasts display their classic and modern cars to the public.
Keith Vanderleer, was one of the individuals who wanted to display his car.
He has taken the time to restore a HZ one-tonner car, and described the restoration process as a labour of love.
“It was a total rust bucket wreck of a thing, rust here, there and everywhere.
“I got all the rust fixed in it, and then it sat there for another year or two, and when I heard about the very first Red CentreNATS I just decided, well, I want a car to take there,” Mr Vanderleer said.
Alfred Williams, the owner of a 1988 Jaguar Sovereign, was another individual keen to showcase his car.
Mr Williams purchased his car from an elderly gentleman six months ago, and has kept it in its original shape
“I bought it as a toy to play with. It runs magnificently. I just love Jaguars – they’re solid, it’s like riding in an armchair,” Mr Williams said.
“This is my first time here, I quite like it, I’m very impressed with the event.”
The second day of the Red CentreNATS was enjoyed by spectators and competitors, and concluded with a Rock N Rumble concert.
