Sunset looks a Cup chance

- JOSH SPASARO

NEWCOMER Sunset Licorice (Graeme Ferns) brings solid interstate form and warrants close attention in the $1335 UBET Winnellie Cup Heat 1 at the Winnellie Park greyhounds tonight.

Bombay Rock (Andrew Lasker) and Mileeka (Simon Nathanael) are also racing well, while Arnhem Mayhem (Jamie Hosking) should enjoy the wider draw.

Distant Shores (Chris Blackman) has been flying of late and looks the one to beat in Heat 2. Gotta Be Better (Peter Donnolley) is a danger, while Rapido (Russell Savige) was good last week and should be considered, as should Ringbark Lana (Leta Smith).

Heat 3 has another newcomer in Sunset Sherbet (Ferns) who has excellent form and is a major player.

Town Hall Tully (Ron Phillips) and Elite Falcon (Smith) both also appear genuine contenders.

Dust and Sand – also for Ferns – was impressive last week and the extra distance looks ideal in Heat 4.

Unpossible (Andrew Lasker) appears to be back to her best.

The inside boxes for I’m Late (Hosking) and No Humbug (Harrison Brown) should make them major players in race one.

Jetmag Sally (Nathanael) has not been at her best of late, but if she can relocate her better form she will run well in race two.

Nathan Toms will be looking for a strong performance from Abaloney and box eight should suit in race three.

There are plenty of chances in race four, including the Phillips pair of Ashby Blast and Ain’t No Luck.

Savige again has a major part to play in the distance races, and his charges Island Girl and Bye Felicia are right in the mix in race nine.

Kennelmates Sublime Countess and Heartbreak Hotel ( Blackman) will have strong roles to play in race 10.
