- JESSICA CARROLL (MACLEAN), 30 TRAVIS CARROLL, 30

Jessica and Travis both grew up in the Territory but didn’t meet until their hockey days when Jessica played for St Marys and Travis played for Nightcliff Tigers.

A small league where “everyone knows everyone”, Travis asked Jessica on a date to the movies eight years ago in 2010, which turned out to be the start of something great.

The couple had been together and going strong for five years when baby Mia came along in 2015 and just three months later, she helped her dad with one of the biggest moments of his life.

Mothers’ Day 2015 will always be an occasion to remember, as young Mia held an engagement ring in her four-month-old hands while Travis proposed. Or at least thought he had. With the ring in front of her, Jessica was still waiting to hear those words “will you marry me” but when they eventually came out, Jessica was surprised and crying with joy.

She eventually got out a ‘yes’ while also saying it was “probably the best mother’s day present — it’ll be hard to top”.

Fast forward three years and Mia was all on top of the wedding, incredibly excited as she got to wear a very pretty dress for the occasion.

Along with her younger brother Eli, now also in the picture, the two acted as pageboy and flower girl on the day with plenty of love and laughter.

Guests came from almost every state in Australia.

The day got Mia’s approval, who is still asking for another wedding.

The couple recently spent a week in Koh Samui for their honeymoon — a lovely time away (and kidfree) before coming back to town to tear up the hockey field.
