-

SKYCITY Darwin’s Cove Restaurant has won back to back gold for Best Steak Restaurant at the 2018 Hospitality NT/ Australian Liquor Marketers Gold Plate Awards.

For the second year running, Cove has been recognised for its first-class steak menu which features premium cuts of King Island and Little Joe Beef from country Victoria, as well as slow cooked ribs and generous share platters.

The prestigious annual event acknowledges the outstanding quality and service of the Northern Territory’s best restaurants and dining establishments.

The awards were judged objectively and anonymously by independent judges and awarded on the quality of food and overall dining experience including the ambience, service and presentation of the venue and staff.

Recently appointed executive chef Athol Wark said the award was a just reward for his talented and hardworking staff.

“This is an accolade that is testament to the hard work and dedication by the entire Cove team who consistently deliver high standards for our customers,” he said.

“We are committed to continuing to provide excellent food and service and look forward to welcoming our regulars as well as new customers over the coming months to help celebrate such an amazing achievement.”

For the first time this year, Hospitality NT has partnered with Tourism NT to launch a ‘Signature Dish Series’ — a Northern Territory wide promotion of great dishes that showcase local produce and talent.

Cove was also recognised in this Top 20 selection for its Territory Share Platter consisting of NT barramundi fingers, salt and mountain pepper crocodile and buffalo skewers and dried akudjura bush tomato.

SKYCITY’s Asian restaurant, the popular and iconic Dragon Court was also among the Top 20 for their dish of Steamed Northern Territory barramundi with ginger and shallots.

This notable dish is featured in the Dragon Court festive banquet menu alongside half shell scallops served three ways, seafood Neptune soup, stir fry turkey in oyster sauce, chilli prawns and dessert crowd pleaser — delicious deep fried ice cream.

Cove is open from Wednesday to Sunday from 6pm, while Dragon Court’s festive banquet menu is available Sunday to Thursday.

It costs $88 per person (for a minimum 4 people) and includes a complimentary halfhour pre-dinner drinks package in The Vue for bookings of 10 or more.
