Football fans can also celebrate New Year’s Day in style when the Western Sydney Wanderers take on Melbourne City, with the month continuing to offer cracking matchups including the grand final rematch and the Australia Day double-header.

Australia’s premier men’s and women’s basketball competitio­n, the NBL and WNBL, continue throughout December and the New Year across four jam-packed rounds of competitio­n. The huge month of hoops is headlined by a Boxing Day finals rematch between 2017/18 NBL Champions Melbourne United and runners-up Adelaide 36ers. Aussie Opals will be hoping to use the experience gained at the FIBA Women’s World Cup to provide a platform for a strong 2018/19 WNBL season.
