Pedestrian dead after collision
A PEDESTRIAN has been killed after a collision with a car in Darwin’s northern suburbs on Friday night.
The collision happened about 8.20pm on Vanderlin Dr, Wulagi in the Casuarinabound lane.
At 10pm there was still blood on the road and a painted outline where the unidentified man was hit. The man died at the scene. The Ford Falcon station wagon driven by an 85-yearold man remained parked, blinkers flashing, on the median strip of the road at about 11pm while police photographed the scene.
There was significant damage to the front of the car.
NT Police Sergeant Mark Casey on Friday night said police were still working out what the cause of the crash was, but believed the pedestrian had walked on to the road. The road was closed for several hours for investigators to work the scene but was reopened by yesterday morning.
The Major Crash Investigation Unit were continuing their investigation.
The man’s death is the sixth on NT roads this year.
He is the second pedestrian killed in 2019.
At the same last year the road toll was 5.
