Get Forked

- JUDITH AISTHORPE

THE Precinct is holding its first Pimm’s Party next weekend. A popular beverage, Pimm's is synonymous with summer parties and is typically drunk with fruit in the cup. The Precinct is hoping to make the most of the quieter months and hold an event where people can get dressed up and enjoy a Saturday afternoon.

Duty manager Haylee McCulloch said the idea was to give people an alternative to Mitchell St where they can doll-up and have a few drinks.

“It’s something a little bit different than what we normally would offer,” she said.

“People do it in the dry season and we just thought our deck would be great for the wet season.

“It’s just a nice day out and something fun to do.

“Darwin doesn’t have a lot of things where people can go out and dress nice.

“It’s giving everyone a little bit of an excuse to dress up.”

The event, which kicks off at 3pm, is the first time the venue has held an all inclusive package.

The Pimm’s party include three hours of bottomless Pimm’s, pink gin and Ketel One vodka.

The event will also include canapes and live music by Dein Cantrill Music.

Ms McCulloch said the event was selling fast. They expect to cap it at 150. “We’ve had a lot bigger response than we expected. We have put it up to 150 tickets but we’ll see how we go,” she said.

The event will be out on The Precinct’s deck, which is almost a year old.

Patrons to the Precinct Pimm's Party will be able to sit back and relax in their own cordoned off area while staff walk around topping up glasses with Pimm’s.

The event will also have a best dressed competition for those that get dolled up in their best Sunday outfit.

The event is next Saturday from 3pm to 6pm, tickets are $65 and can be bought through their Facebook page.
