Roar ready for Blues

WHEN Brisbane and Sydney last met in the W-League there were bigger issues at play in the women’s game.

The Sky Blues defeated the Roar 3-1 just hours after FFA announced the sacking of Alen Stajcic as Matildas coach.

Roar coach Mel Andreatta does not believe that news was behind her team’s display on January 19 but concedes the fallout from that decision has been a “serious situation” for players involved in the national team setup.

Andreatta has made two inclusions from the last week’s final regular season clash with Adelaide United by promoting defenders Jenna McCormick and Summer O’Brien.

Sydney heads north with Shay Evans, Elizabeth Ralston and Rachel Soutar added to its squad. The Sky Blues have won both clashes with the Roar this season.
