Bonus $1m fish round Chance runs until Sept 30

- NATASHA EMECK

DON’T despair, there’s still a chance to catch the Million Dollar Fish.

After fishos failed to catch a $1 million fish during the NT competition’s time frame this season, organisers have decided to activate a special bonus round from April 1 to September 30.

All season four registered participants are automatically eligible for the bonus round, with another chance to reel in one of the five $1 million prizetagged barramundi still swimming in Top End waters.

BetEasy’s Brad Fanning said they hope the bonus round will reel in the big one.

“Five $1 million fish are still out there in Territory waters, waiting to be caught and we can’t wait for someone to change their lives with a single cast,” he said.

The $1 million tag numbers to look out for include: S1MDF1469, S2-MDF2656, S3MDF3556, S4-MDF4540 and S4-MDF4663.

If the $1 million prizetagged fish from seasons one to four is not caught in the bonus round, there will be six chances to catch the million dollars in season five.

Tourism Minister Lauren Moss said over the past four seasons, more than 35 people have won over $300,000 in prize money.

“The Million Dollar Fish competition has helped boost the Territory’s reputation as one of the best places in the world to fish and the bonus round gives even more chance to catch a prize-winning fish,” she said. “I encourage all Australians whether anglers or not to come to the Territory, try their hand at catching the Million Dollar Fish and enjoy our unique tourism experiences while they’re here.”
