PLANS FOR A NEW PUB ON DALY ST

REVEALED: Proposed bar for new apartments

-

A NEW pub could be coming to Darwin with a liquor application lodged for a restaurant and sports bar under the proposed Kalidonis Boutique Apartments building.

A liquor application notice for a new “boutique” residential building in Darwin’s Daly St has included a new restaurant and gaming facilities, promising to become another popular city venue.

An initial application notice for the building, at 9 Daly St, said the proposed premises “will be constructed incorporating an 18-floor venue operating as a boutique style hotel, gymnasium, pool, sports bar, gaming room, TAB facilities, restaurant, alfresco dining area and children’s play area.

“The proposed liquor trading hours for the restaurant is 11am to 23.59pm seven days per week including Good Friday and Christmas Day.”

The proposed sports bar would be open for the same hours but would be closed on Christmas Day.

Conditions of the application mean liquor would not have to be bought with a meal but the licence prevented the sale of takeaway alcohol.

The building, which will be operated by Kalidonis Hotels, who also own Horizons on Harvey, Kalidonis Village studio apartments and are developing the Kalidonis Luxury Apartments on Woods St, will see 40 two-bedroom apartments in the building as well as 37 studio apartments.

The restaurant/bar venue will hope to complement other venues in the area such as Lizards, at the bottom of the H on Mitchell Hotel and the Trader Bar.

The lot has been vacant for several years but used to be occupied as a motor scooter dealership. A second application notice was published on June 22, with the objection period to take place until July 22.
