Newcomer on track for very bright future

- GREG ALDAM

WINNELLIE Park newcomer Go Brandi impressed at her first run on the track last week breaking 18 seconds for the 312 metre journey.

It has been quite a while since the 18-second barrier has been broken and trainer Steele Bolton looks to have an exciting proposition on his hands.

That first-up effort should guarantee further improvement tonight when Go Brandi steps up to 383m in the CUB Dash. She will be extremely hard to beat coming out of box eight, although the Simon Nathanael trained Mileeka and Graeme Ferns’ Jessie Quick should keep her honest.

The other feature event on the program, the Coolalinga Mowers Sprint over 537m, has brought together a good lineup and again Bolton can have a strong say here with Spirit Monelli, who has shown a liking for this track and is capable of running a slick time.

He won’t have it all his own way, however, as Sunset Sherbet from box one for Ferns, Eight Green Cans for Graeme Scott and He’s All Grunt, who steps out to this trip for the first time for Andrew Lasker, all

have claims.

Graeme Ferns holds a nice lead in the trainer’s premiership and he has some good chances on the program.

Defrag looks to have found a suitable field in race seven, along with Nat’s Wish in race nine. Other notable chances include Well Off in race one for Ron Phillips and Delerra in race four is showing plenty of promise for Graeme Scott.

Punters at Winnellie Park should also respect the Leta Smith trained Malita Magazine and Mighty Magazine in race seven.

Racing commences at 6.34pm on a solid nine-race program at Winnellie Park, where action and excitement have been proven performers for the past 50 years.
