There are ways to help kids

-

CHILD Protection Week provides us as a community with a reason to think about the wellbeing of our nation’s children.

Most of our children enjoy a life surrounded by people who love and care for them.

These children will grow up strong and resilient.

Australia has a growing number of children who are not so fortunate through no fault of their own.

This group of children are experiencing neglect, domestic violence and homelessness to name a few of the adversities that they face daily.

There are no easy answers as to how to turn this situation around because no two situations are the same.

Early childhood education and care for preschool children has proven to enhance long term positive outcomes for children.

There are many playgroups available in the Darwin and Palmerston area and most schools have an attached preschool.

Child Care Centres also provide an early childhood education program.

Territory Child Care Group Inc provide a range of education and care options for families. Baby Play group meets every Monday from 9 to 11 at 10 Mel Road Berrimah. Baby play group is a great place to meet other mothers and share parenting ideas.

Murraya Children’s Centre in Leanyer provides care for children in beautiful peaceful surroundings where each child is valued and is encouraged to experience learning at their own pace.

Darwin Family Day Care provides home-based care. Home based care is a good option for parents who want their child cared for in a home.

The care is regulated and monitored to the same standards as centre based care.

Bees Creek Outside School hours care provides a place to hang out after a busy day at school. A place to recharge your batteries before engaging in a range of activities that build on life skills, sport and children’s interests.

The Reggio inspired Maniltoa Children’s Centre is due to open soon in Coolalinga.

It is a purpose- built Child Care Centre for children aged from birth to 5 years.

There’s plenty of room to run, jump and play and places to engage in small world play.
