Sticker irks grandma

THERE are, apparently, people who don’t like massive CU in the NT stickers on the back of four-wheel-drives. Little rubber ball sacks hanging off a tow bar is one thing, profanity is another. Late on Friday afternoon, a dear old grandma got publicly shamed on Facebook when she tried to peel of a big “C” on a CU in the NT sticker.

Judge for yourself

BUSHIE’S favourite local court judge, Greg Cavanagh, is at his best when he works up a head of steam and decides to ignore the filter between his head and his mouth. Sadly, for Bushie’s readers, the Cav has discovered a new favourite saying: “this is suppressed from Bushranger”.

Tough pizza delivery

AN unlucky Domino’s delivery driver was seen navigating the entrance of the Berrimah Defence Base last weekend, dropping off some Italian-themed snacks to our hardworking troops. While Bushie only got a quick glimpse at the driver, presumably halted at the entrance while the hungry soldiers marched their way down to the front gate, he didn’t look to have the easiest time navigating his way back on to Stuart Hwy. Nonetheless, it’s good to see strong cohesion in society, with our delivery drivers serving up pizzas to those who serve the nation.

Rope trick pretty scary

TURNS out life isn’t smooth sailing for one jetski owner who managed to suck up a rope into the engine within hours of buying it. While out giving the $10,000 jetski a run after buying it earlier that day, the not-so-lucky chap almost managed to write it off. The jetski owner and another bloke had been attempting to attach a rope to the back of the jetski so they could tow a tube when he turned the jetski on and it sucked up metres and metres of the rope. Two hours later the rope had been cut from the engine and the jetski was able to be turned on.

Selena suffers vet trip

THIS week Education Minister Selena Uibo made a little blip while discussing schools. She referred to Vocational Education Training as Veterinary Education Training and went red-faced when she realised her mistake. Uibo apologised and composed herself, calmly finishing the press conference with no other slip-ups.

Ferry’s U-ey fortuitous

NEWS crews from Channel 9 and the NT News nearly found themselves stranded on the Mandorah Jetty this week when the ferry left a few minutes early. The next boat didn’t leave for another two hours and the sunstruck journos prepared for a long wait filing their stories from the peninsula but their anonymous travelling companion was having none of it. A rather testy call to SeaLink about the early departure and an anxious wait later and the ferry was spotted doing a U-ey and heading back to pick up the stranded scribes. Sometimes it pays to be a squeaky wheel in this day and age.

Apology to Mr John Lawrence SC

On 14 April 2019, we published a segment in the Bushranger column of the Sunday Territorian where we said certain things about Mr Lawrence SC’s delivery of a eulogy for the late John Waters QC. We now acknowledge what we said was completely untrue. We unreservedly apologise to Mr Lawrence SC for the embarrassment, hurt and distress that the segment caused him or his family.
