TWO remote cop shops were targeted on Friday – one being damaged and the other having a disturbance.
Police are investigating a break and enter at Willowra Police Station and a disturbance at Galiwin’ku Police Station in the wake of the Yuendumu shooting.
A police spokeswoman said just before 7pm, police were told that a group of people had unlawfully entered and damaged property within the Willowra Police Station.
Willowra is a community of about 300 residents about 300km north of Alice Springs off the Stuart Highway.
Police are conducting inquiries into the unlawful entry and property damage of the police station.
They urge anyone with information regarding the break-in or damage to the property to contact them on 131 444 or report it anonymously via Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
A police spokeswoman said a police presence was being maintained in two other central Australian communities – Arlparra and Mutitjulu.
Police also confirmed there was a disturbance at Galiwin’ku, northeast Arnhem Land, early on Friday evening.
The spokesman did not say what happened or for how long the incident lasted.
However, reports indicate that it was a planned march and was resolved quickly.
The spokesman said the group involved in the disturbance dispersed soon after the incident began.
Cops on Elcho Island have been talking to elders about the situation.
The spokesman said there were no injuries.
