PETS are now allowed to join you on Uber rides.

Uber Pet has launched in Darwin as well as a handful of other cities across Australia.

Bringing your dog along will cost an extra $6 to $7.

Anna Whelan can’t wait to hit dog-friendly pubs with pooch Roscoe.

“It’s fantastic. It’s a great chance to go out for a drink at the pub with your pet and get home safely,” Ms Whelan said.

“It’s a great concept, there’s so many people with pets, especially in Darwin, and it gives people more options to get around with their pets.”

Uber general manager Dom Taylor said dog owners now had more flexibility in how they travelled.

“It was clear that for many pet owners, especially those without their own car, simple things like taking their pet to the vet or visiting friends and family could be a real challenge,” he said.
