Myriad clay target meets on Territory calendar Sharpen shooting skills

NT Field and Game

WITH the 2020 NT Waterfowl Hunting season looming it is time to hone those shooting skills that may have been dulled in the off season.

There are plenty of big clay target events coming up with none bigger in Sporting Clays than the NT Field and Game Festival of Clays over the Darwin Cup weekend. The clays thrown at this event will closely resemble what will be regularly coming at hunters around the swamps.

Shooting clays and competing is the best way to improve your chances when meat needs to be put on the table. NTFGA has a fabulous range with Five Stand Sporting offering a compact and quick assortment of 25 targets from five different traps and four different sized clay targets.

The newly automated Simulated Field course has five separate stations with up to a possible 14 different presentations of mini, midi, battue, chondel, rabbit and tower standards thrown at myriad range of angles, heights and speeds.

For the beginner there is a special stand to get confidence or three stations with manual traps so people can practise in seclusion at their own pace. Add to that the skeet range and almost everything is covered.

If it isn’t now, it will be in a few weeks when the Down the Line trap that has a Ball Trap facility arrives and Field and Game owns the whole ‘shootin’ match’.

With the lowest membership fees of just $130 for full membership and only $55 for additional family members, Field and Game is very economical for the family that shoots together.

The membership lasts for a full 12 months, no matter what time of the year people join up.

A round of 25 targets is just $11 with ammo sold on site and the range is open every Friday from 4pm until 8.30pm and most Sundays from 9am until noon there is plenty of access for members and the general public.

The NTFGA range is central to Darwin, Palmerston and rural area, situated at the Mickett Creek Shooting Complex, Brandt Road, Knuckey Lagoon. It is no surprise NT Field and Game is the biggest hunting, conservation and clay target shooting club in the Territory. All are welcome.
