SPORT Lycett milestone on hold

-

PORT ADELAIDE ruckman Scott Lycett has been withdrawn from the team to play Carlton at the Gabba today after failing to overcome a knee injury suffered in last weekend’s win over GWS.

The 27-year-old was due to feature in his 100th AFL game. The 203cm big man reported soreness in his right knee after the 17-point victory against the Giants.

Sam Mayes and Xavier Duursma also come into the team to replace the suspended Brad Ebert and injured Cam Sutcliffe.

It will be Mayes’ first game for the club since arriving in the 2018 trade period from Brisbane.

Darren Minchington is set to pull on the brown and gold for the first time when the Hawks do battle with Melbourne at Giants Stadium today.

After being picked up as a delisted free agent by the

Hawks at the end of the 2018 season, the former Saint has since endured a torrid run of injuries and bad luck.

But, following some strong form in the reserves scratch matches of recent weeks, the 26-year-old has been selected in a Hawthorn side that will be desperate for victory following back-to-back losses. For the Demons, youngster Luke Jackson has been included in its side. Jackson, who stands at 198cm tall, made his debut back in Round 2.

And Michael Frederick will become the fourth Fremantle player to make an AFL debut this year when the Dockers take on West Coast at Optus Stadium tonight.

Frederick and defender Brennan Cox are Freo’s two inclusions, replacing injured duo Nat Fyfe (hamstring) and Hayden Young (ankle).

Josh Kennedy will become the 16th Eagles player to run out for his 250th game.
