With Australian­s never in more need of a holiday – and having the nation to ourselves due to the lack of internatio­nal visitors – spring and summer will be the ideal times for domestic travel, which in turn will help the industry and boost the economy.

“COVID-19, as well as the ongoing lockdowns and border closures, has had a devastatin­g effect on our travel and tourism industry and many small business people who rely on tourism to survive,” said Michael Miller, executive chairman of News Corp Australia, which publishes NT News and Escape.

“Our Australia Go and Get It campaign is designed to help rebuild our travel industry and get an important part of our economy moving again. With spring school holidays upon us and most state borders still closed, it’s most likely that we will be having our summer holidays in our Australian backyard this year.
