THANKS MUM

Territorians celebrate the women in their lives on Mother’s Day

FOR Territory mother-offour Amy Milford, there’s no better job in the world than being a mum.

“I don’t think I could imagine my life without kids,” she said. “They’re my life, they’re my world, and they give me so much love.

“I call my life my happy crazy chaos, because (being a mum) basically encapsulates that — there’s endless love and happiness, but it’s crazy and chaotic at the same time.

“There’s never a dull moment.”

Ms Milford is one of thousands of women across the NT set to be pampered today as Territorians celebrate their wonderful mums this Mother’s Day.

Ms Milford, who is something of an expert on mums as the founder of local online parents’ hub Darwin Family Life, said Mother’s Day was an important opportunity for mums to be recognised for the hard work they put in for their families every day.

“Mums do everything. And I think just having that one special day to honour and celebrate how amazing our mums are is really important,” she said. “And the kids actually really love celebrating you – it’s a special day for them to give you a little bit of thanks.”

Ms Milford’s eldest daughter Maddy, 10, said she loved her mum for always being there for her and her siblings. “I really want her to have the best Mother’s Day because she’s really good, and I love her,” she said. She said they would be celebrating their mum by giving her presents and breakfast in bed before heading to the beach for a picnic.
