Moving forward thanks to program

-

This Homelessness Awareness Week, Somerville acknowledges that in the last year we have supported more people than ever to attend and graduate from our Moving Forward program. We understand that anyone at any time can experience homelessness and we have designed a support program to assist you in avoiding homelessness or to help you get back on your feet while you are experiencing homelessness.

The Moving Forward program aligns educational outcomes to developing the skills needed to prevent homelessness and sustain long-term tenancies within the community. The nine-module program is delivered over nine weeks and provides practical education to enable people to develop general life skills including; money management, securing employment, healthy lifestyle, family and parenting skills and sustaining positive tenancies.

Word of mouth is spreading quickly, so more and more organisations are requesting the program to be delivered to their clients. We have delivered the program in adult correctional facilities, drug and alcohol rehabilitation facilities, other community service organisations as well as in house at Somerville.

Somerville’s housing and homelessness services provide support for families and individuals over 16 years who are experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness, our programs assist people to live independently in the community by locating and maintaining appropriate, secure and permanent accommodation.

We provide services in Darwin, Palmerston, Katherine and surrounding communities. We believe that maintaining and developing partnerships with other organisations is fundamental to achieving positive outcomes for the people accessing our services.

Contact us today if you are interested in hosting a Moving Forward program in your organisation or attending the next round or if you want to know more about any of our Homelessness services.
