RAIDERS GET UP IN GRUDGE MATCH OVER ARCH RIVALS NIGHTCLIFF

- JOSH SPASARO

“HE is one of the cleanest strikers of the ball I’ve seen in a while.” That was Tracy Village coach Tony Judd’s description of Josh Kann after his brilliant 162 not out from 153 balls against a formidable Waratah attack at Tracy Village Oval.

The impressive 21-year-old allrounder’s knock – which featured nine fours and six sixes – helped his side reach an imposing 6-372.

Awad Naqvi (77 off 160 balls), Jackson Edmondstone (40 off 63) and Antum Naqvi (42 off 69) also made valuable contributions. “Josh was immense for us again. He was dropped on one and didn’t give another opportunity,” Judd said of the Gold Coast talent.

“He gives 150 per cent with everything he does, and the great thing is he’s committed to us until the end of the season. We knew we needed a big score because Waratah has three or four guys who can score big hundreds.”

Palmerston captain Alex Bleakley also dominated with a stunning unbeaten 130 from 86 balls, with 11 fours and eight sixes in his team’s mammoth 6-425, opener Keegan Oates also contributing 108 from 157.

“Keegan batted sensational and set up the score for us,” Bleakley said after hitting his second ton against the Tigers this year. “We’ll miss the finals and we’ve had Kieran Toner and Robbie Van Der Meulen have a break this season, and our import Liam Sparke went back home after doing well for us. But we make no excuses. We’re just having a bit of fun now and for some reason the stars have aligned for me against Nightcliff.”

And Jackson Isakka also starred with 171 not out from 183 balls in his team’s big score of 6-396 at home to PINT.

In an incredible season, it was his fourth ton of 2021.
