A FRESH FACE FOR AN OLD FRIEND Flipboard has been around for a good long while now, but this new iteration is more gorgeous and more useful than ever. The concept remains the same — this is a magazine-esque app to bring all your news together in one convenient package — but the app has shifted to a more customisable experience, allowing you to personalise your feeds with greater specificity.

You now have the ability to subscribe to subheadings under broader topics, such as particular artists under the umbrella category of music, for instance, and each ‘magazine’ will then hone in further on your topic preferences.

To accompany this, your home screen will feature up to nine of these chosen magazines to flick between, each offering a full-screen preview of the latest news and the ability to then scroll through their relevant stories. The home screen of old is still present, under the guise of ‘cover stories’, and is both unremovable and easily ignored.

There are ads that pop up between pages (like a regular magazine!) as there doesn’t seem to be a paid tier, but they’re reasonably inoffensive and the sleek design and customisation is totally worth it.
