ASUS ZenBook Flip UX360UA

-

AVAILABLE IN ROSE Gold or Mineral Grey with a spun metal finish, it can’t be denied that the ASUS Zenbook Flip is quite the looker. It’s also super light with a very nice balance, just 14mm think and yet still having enough space for keys with a comfortable 1.5mm travel — a nice range that makes extended typing sessions comfortable. The chassis has a little bit of flex in it, but not enough to be worrisome.

What’s more, while we’ve had problems with ASUS’s hinges in the past, we’re pleased to see this latest model has stiffened up considerably since the last Zenbook we reviewed. It’s still not 100%, but it’s steady enough that even strenuous typing won’t make the screen wobble.

Although the Zenbook felt good to use, we found the screen a little too much on the glossy side, reflecting heavily in high light situations and showing up fingerprints a little too easy. The colour definition and sharpness were good, however.

Internally, the Zenbook only has middling specs, at least compared to some of the new models of laptops available. A highlight, of course, is its impressive 57Wh battery, though that is somewhat necessary given the (relatively speaking) power-hungry i5 processor. Even with that processor, it posted amongst the very best battery lives in our tests — six hours under very heavy load is a good deal.

If you are looking for something that travels well, can hold a charge for a decent amount of time and is comfortable to use for extended periods, then we expect the UX360 is a good choice for you. It’s not the latest and greatest — it doesn’t even have a DisplayPort, for example — but it’s capable and nicely designed.
