Marley Legend ANC

SOUNDS LIKE A TANK, NOT BUILT LIKE ONE.

-

THE MARLEY LEGENDS have stylish flourishes such as a fabric cord and wood panelling, and premium inclusions like a soft shell case, but the praise more or less stops there. Both the audio cable and the charging cable for the active noise cancelling (which is noisy and poor) are connected via a micro-USB port on the headphones. This connection, on the review model at least, was severely temperamental and would cut out even with slight bumps from walking. These are a long-term loan unit, and having been stored in its box for a number of months, the glue holding the leather over the foam ear cups inexplicably gave way. They are also incredibly heavy and offer little flex, meaning the already-uncomfortable semi-onear cups hug your head rather aggressively. The sound is incredibly bass heavy, which is sometimes impressive and sometimes muddy, and there is a distinct lack of treble. Despite this, there is a decent feel of space in the sound and the over-the-top lower frequencies are good for some styles of electronic music, but doesn’t suit much else. The price is probably a result of both the branding and the inclusion of ANC, but neither of these make up for the poor build and unbalanced sound.
