The Breaker podcast app is calling itself “the best”, so we were interested to see whether we agreed with them. To start, you can link up Breaker with your other podcast apps so it can transfer your subscriptions. It recommends productions, as well as letting you simply search for them by name or browse through the most popular from today. A handy touch is showing you how many of its users are subscribed to each podcast, so you can see whether this episode is a one-off goodie or whether the production as a whole is good. It’s super easy to manage your subscriptions, too, including the ability to mute, so you don’t get inundated with new episodes. Another feature is the ability to follow people, and to comment on and like episodes and productions. One major flaw we’ve discovered so far, however, is that there’s no apparent way to search a podcast for individual episode names. The Joe Rogan Experience, for example, has over 1,000 episodes so far, so if we want to listen to the Louis Theroux episode again... yeah, we’re going to be scrolling for a while. The design is quite clean and the UI is otherwise pretty good; however, without that additional search functionality, it can be frustrating to use at times.
