8 YEARS
THE TIME UNTIL FOSSIL-FUEL VEHICLES ARE OBSOLETE, ACCORDING TO STANFORD UNIVERSITY STUDY
An economist from Stanford University, Tony Seba, has published a report forecasting the demise of petrol and diesel automobiles within the next 8 years. This prediction hinges on Seba’s belief that there will be a market-wide switch to electric vehicles, given their inexpensive operational costs, longer expected lifespans and self-driving capabilities. This shift will leave fossil-fuel cars as an expensive hobby for “nostalgics” and ultimately “lead to the collapse of the oil industry as we have known it for a century”.
