MORE EVIDENCE MOUNTS THAT SCREEN TIME IS BAD FOR TODDLERS
Parenthood isn’t easy, especially when it comes to raising kids in today’s always-on digital world. The debate on screen time rages on, although guidelines from paediatricians are available. Proper scientific data, however, is still lacking. But two recent studies have revealed some disturbing evidence.
One study has found that the longer toddlers under the age of two use handheld screens, like smartphones or tablets, the more likely the child will suffer from speech delay. According to the study, for every half hour of screen exposure, a child’s risk of language delay increased by about 50%. The second study revealed that toddlers exposed to screen time got less sleep at night. So the question remains, how to do we raise our little ones in a technologically advancing world?
