AUSSIE STUDY PROVES E-CIGARETTES CAN DAMAGE LUNGS
If you need a nicotine hit and thought e-cigarettes were the perfect alternative, think again. A new study funded by the WA Health Department has found that e-cigarettes do just as much damage as the regular reefers. Researchers studied the condition of lungs in mice exposed to the e-juices of an e-cigarette and found “significant lung damage” in the form of different respiratory disorders.
Lead author of the study, Professor Alexander Larcombe, said, “E-cigarette use is increasing worldwide, particularly amongst young people, because they are often considered a safer option than traditional cigarettes. However, there is a lack of information on the respiratory health effects of these devices.” Dr Larcombe also pointed out that his study focused only on the respiratory effects of e-cigarettes, so there is still no information on any other potential side-effects.
