Moov Now

AN INCONSPICUOUS DISC.

-

THE ONLY TRACKER on test here that has no screen at all is one of the most powerful, once it’s set up. Moov’s small disc sits inside a silicon strap that you can wear on your ankle or on your wrist, and depending on its placement, it’ll give you real-time feedback on your form. It really is like your own personal coach, but you’ll always have to have your smartphone with you in order to hear instructions and feedback — a hassle if you like to run or exercise unencumbered.

The Now itself is small and lightweight, so much so, you’ll forget it’s there. With the app open, you can choose from a list of more than 15 exercises, including running, gym work, swimming, cycling, boxing and more. An optional heart-rate chest strap provides another layer to your metrics, though the Now alone does a pretty good job of telling you if you’re cycling or running to the best of your ability. While there are a few useful instructions on how to perform the exercise, some basic knowledge of how to correctly perform them is needed. The voice from the app is a little robotic, as it’s using ‘text to speech’ rather than pre-recorded dialogue, making it sound a bit stilted and will sometimes jam words together. Look to the app and you’ll find clear, understandable data, with good ideas on how to improve. Considering the price, this is a must-get.
