Elysium Space SHOOT YOUR DEAD RELATIVES INTO SPACE. elysiumspace.com “Remember a loved one throughout the night sky” by getting their remains shot into space — that’s the premise delivered by Elysium Space. The company recently announced that they had developed a partnership with SpaceX where, once a year, you can add the ashes of a dead someone to one of Elon Musk’s Falcon 9 rockets. The Elysium Star II will travel around the Earth over a two-year period, passing over “every location in the world” before burning up in the atmosphere. This is called the Shooting Star Memorial package, priced at US$2,490. It comes with a companion app, so you can monitor the Elysium Star II rocket containing your loved one’s ashes as it travels around the earth. While it might sound nice — to remember your loved one by looking at the stars (and glancing at an app), rather than down at a grave stone — we’re worried that this kind of thing will create even more space junk.
