PHOTOGRAPHY APPS CHECKLIST

-

THE KEY THINGS TO BE AWARE OF WHEN DOWNLOADING PHOTOGRAPHY APPS.

BETTER THAN STOCK

Some phones released in the last 12 months have sophisticated stock apps. Check it to see if your new app improves on it or not.

FILTERS A tasteful filter can enhance and compensate for a budget lens, or completely transform your photo with radical effects. Experiment, and then decide what you want. MANUAL CONTROLS

If you’re familiar with DSLR cameras, manual controls such as shutter speed, ISO selection and metering can generate spectacular results.

SOCIAL MEDIA INTEGRATION

Check how easily you can you share pics from your editing apps to your favourite social media platform, or if you can only achieve this via their own apps.

EASE OF EDITING

If you want to do fine editing on the go, ensure your phone screen is large enough to avoid frustration — screens larger than 5 inches are best for manipulating images.

WEB INTEGRATION

Some apps offer app and desktop support, and consider if you want to swap easily between the two.

WATERMARK

A number of free apps leave a watermark. You might be OK with this, or you may want to pay for the ‘pro’ version to avoid the digital blemish.

RESOLUTION OUTPUT

Some apps will only save your edited file in a low-res state. Fine for showing off on your phone, not so good if you want to print them out.
