“DO YOU WANT to talk about it?” is not a question you’d expect a computer to ask you, but a new psychologist chatbot dubbed Woebot actually wants to put you on the couch and help you with your woes. If this wasn’t enough, AI is also detecting junk Play Store apps, automating excessively tedious Photoshop tasks and is getting in touch with its creative side by painting pictures from a text description. There are also some rather compelling VR movie tie-ins this month with Planet of the Apes, Isle of Dogs and The Unabomber experiences to virtually immerse yourself in. As Amazon continues its march into Australia, the online retailer has added AR home viewing capabilities to Android phones and, in what’s probably the best AR game since Pokémon Go, there’s a Ghostbusters game on the way that’ll let you laser lasso all the strange things in your neighbourhood.
