The next generation in motoring

CES IS ALSO something of a car show with most major brands showcasing cars of the future, from concepts to launching a new model in their range. The cars of the future appear to look mostly like lounge rooms on wheels, and interior designers are busy rethinking what the inside of the car should look like. What we loved at CES in the automotive space however was technology that is coming in the near future, not what is decades away. Here Technologies demonstrated how a connected infotainment system will work, featuring a voice assistant. The scenario from Here is rather simple, ask Alexa in the car to navigate you to the nearest coffee shop. Following that, ask Alexa to place an order for a flat white and to ensure there is parking at your destination. The infotainment system is doing a number of things here; it is internet connected, as is the cafe, and a transaction is being made. With connected car parks, you will know whether parking is available and with the ETA of the navigation system the cafe will know when to start preparing your coffee so it is ready as you arrive. This is just one example of how our cars will work for us in 2021.

Assuming they don’t accidentally drive us into oncoming traffic…
