What about video?

-

Hi, I read your magazine on a tablet. I enjoy each issue and also that you include topics that are a bit left field.

I do not know what proportion off your sales are paper or electronic , but has there been consideration about including video in your magazine.

I seem to recall your predecessor magazine that had video in its last year Just a thought. PAUL CAMFORD

David says: Hey Paul, thanks for getting in touch, and we’re all very glad you enjoy our at times ecelectic mix of content!

We have quite a few readers who follow our digital editions, and I must admit I consume most of my reading – books and magazines – via smartphone and tablet as well. It’s just a lot more convenient.

And yes, you are quite right - the previous incarnation of TechLife did have a lot of video content. Including that kind of rich media adds a lot to any publication.

Unfortunately, it also adds a lot of time to the production process, and requires a lot of expertise in the office. We’re a rather distributed team at the moment, with many of us working remotely from home (another boon of the digital age), and that does make video a little difficult to produce. And, I will admit... not all of us feel comfortable in front of a camera!

FOR US THE PRICE WAS THE MAIN KILLER, WHILE MANY OF US IN THE OFFICE ALSO PREFER THE PIXEL 3’S CAMERA - I’M LOOKING AT THAT AS MY NEXT UPGRADE, IN FACT.

UNFORTUNATELY, IT ALSO ADDS A LOT OF TIME TO THE PRODUCTION PROCESS, AND REQUIRES A LOT OF EXPERTISE IN THE OFFICE.
