Make ISO work for you
If you’re shooting fast action shots, or working handheld in low light, it may not be possible to select a fast enough shutter speed for sharp shots – even at wide apertures. The easiest solution is to increase the ISO. Most modern cameras offer excellent low-light performance, but you may have to compromise a little on image quality at higher ISO settings. If you increase your ISO from 100 to 1,600, you’ll gain an extra four stops: if you keep your aperture setting locked, that will increase your shutter speed from, for example, 1/15 to 1/250 sec.
