STEP BY STEP: BLEND YOUR IMAGES TOGETHER The sharply focused parts of your shots produce an image with enhanced depth of field
1
UNCOMPRESSED WORKS BEST In this example, we’re working with eight images of a waterfall taken at f/8. First, convert them into TIFFs.
2
IMPORT FILES INTO PHOTOSHOP In Photoshop, click on File > Scripts > Load Files Into Stack. Select the files; retain their order as shot. Click OK.
3
AUTO-ALIGN SEPARATE LAYERS Each file is a separate layer. Select all layers and go to Edit > Auto-Align Layers. Select Auto and click OK.
1
NOW BLEND THE LAYERS Click Edit > Auto-Blend Layers. Tick the Stack Images button; under that, tick Seamless Tones and Colors.
2
FLATTEN THE IMAGE The blended image has an enhanced depth of field. Crop any blurred edges then go to Layers > Flatten Image.
3
DRINK IN THE DEPTH OF FIELD The final, focus-stacked, image reveals depth of field extending all the way to the background.
