Six ways Marvel’s Avengers is levelling up for PS5

Whether you buy the digital or disc version of Marvel’s Avengers on PS4 you’ll be able to upgrade to the enhanced PS5 version for free when the console launches later this year.

COMING TOGETHER

Given Crystal Dynamics is dedicated to supporting the game for some time to come, PS4 and

PS5 players will be able to crossplay together so there’s no reason to wait to upgrade.

BUILDING A FOUNDATION

Crystal’s Foundation engine is being pushed to the limit thanks to PS5’s GPU power. Higher texture resolution, more distant detail, enhanced ambient occlusion, better anisotropic filtering, and new features like stochastic screen-space reflections with contact-aware sharpening will make it beautiful.

BEST OF BOTH

Crystal Dynamics’ motto for the game is “look good, play good”, and PS5 is helping to deliver it. You’ll be able to choose from the best graphics possible, or a “high framerate mode on PS5, which targets 60fps with dynamic 4K resolution”.

WORLD’S FASTEST

Even before PS5 optimisation, running the game on PS5’s custom-SSD made it run blazingly fast. After optimisation, the team tout “nearly instant” loading allowing seamless mission hopping, and hi-res texture loading even when flying.

SUPER SENSES

The team plan to make the most of the DualSense controller’s haptic feedback and resistance triggers, and of the console’s 3D audio. We’ve yet to see quite how, but expect to feel in the midst of the superpowered action like never before.
