The accidental KISS

Kelly had an unexpected encounter after a night out Kelly, 25, Lakemba, NSW*

As we flew to Brisbane, I felt a flutter of excitement. My boyfriend Scott and I had both grown up there.

Now living in Sydney, we were going back for the weekend. For tonight I’d arranged a girly catch-up with my old schoolmates.

Meanwhile, Scott planned to stay in with his parents Jim, 55, and Karen, 50, whose house we were staying at for two nights.

Pulling up in a taxi, we were greeted by his folks.

I’d met Scott at school and we’d been dating for seven years, so Jim and Karen were like a second set of parents to me.

After chatting for a while, I raced upstairs to get ready for my night out.

Putting on a scarlet red dress, I made a special effort with my make-up. Scott came into the room, admiring my look.

‘You look amazing, babe,’ he said, putting his hands around my waist.

‘Aw, thanks,’ I replied, planting a kiss on his lips.

Shouting goodbye to Scott and his parents, I jumped into a taxi and made my way to a bar in the city to meet my friends Joanna and Alice.

The three of us gossiped over bottles of wine, before hitting the dance floor. By 2am I knew it was time to go home!

My head spinning from the wine, I hailed a cab and made my way back to

Jim and Karen’s. Stumbling into the living room as the lights were out,

I was guided by a dim light coming from the TV. Scott must have fallen asleep watching a movie,

I thought, noticing him sprawled on the sofa.

Feeling flirty, I walked over, sat down and started kissing him.

Then my cheek brushed the stubble on his face.

That’s weird, I thought, sure Scott had been clean-shaven earlier.

Within seconds, it dawned on me. It wasn’t Scott I was smooching – it was his dad! ‘Oh, no! Sorry! I thought you were Scott!’ I shrieked, pulling away.

Jim woke up confused, but I ran off before he could respond. I’d never felt more embarrassed.

Rushing into the room where we were staying, I saw Scott asleep in bed.

Trying hard to forget the awkward incident, I crawled in beside my boyfriend and nodded off.

The next morning I woke up with a thumping headache. Then I had flashbacks to the night before. Oh no! I kissed

Jim! I remembered. Eventually dragging myself out of bed, I found Jim making everyone coffee in the kitchen.

I managed to avoid eye contact during brekkie, but while I was washing up afterwards, he wandered in.

‘I just want to say how sorry I am about last night,’ I blurted out, turning red.

‘Don’t you worry about it, darl. We’ll forget it ever happened,’ he reassured me.

I breathed a sigh of relief and vowed to never tell Scott about my kissing blunder.

I’ve tried my best to forget about it. But now and again it will pop up in my mind, and I cringe.

Still, I’ll never tell my secret. My lips are sealed! ●
