After her first screening a small lump was found in Rachel's breast. A lumpectomy and radiation therapy followed.

RACHEL WORMALD, 53 - BREAST CANCER SURVIVOR

-

I HAD TURNED 50... I received a letter from BreastScreen Australia to say I was entitled to a free mammogram. Six months later the letter was still on the fridge and I thought, I better book that appointment.

I DIDN’T HAVE ANY SYMPTOMS I had cancer in my left breast, but it was so small they were struggling to get a clear picture on the ultrasound. If I hadn’t have had the breast screen I wouldn’t have known I had cancer, I didn’t have any symptoms. If I hadn’t been prompted to go, I may not have gone for a few years. It could be the difference between me sitting here today and not sitting here at all.
