Celebrating Mary’s little princess

She’s fun-loving, naturally sociable and on April 21 Princess Isabella, the eldest of Crown Princess Mary’s daughters, celebrates a very special birthday, as Juliet Rieden reports.

She’s the third in line to the Danish throne, but thanks to a consciously “normal” upbringing guided by both parents, Princess Isabella, who celebrates her 10th birthday on April 21, has never let her royal status cramp her youthful exuberance. Mary’s eldest daughter attends a local state-run school, is regularly seen out and about in Copenhagen with her family and when The Weekly met her back in 2013, was spinning pirouettes at home in Amalienborg Palace fresh from her ballet class. Since then, Princess Isabella has grown into a naturally sociable royal and, in 2015, proved a natural at her first official engagement, christening the Prinsesse Isabella Saelvig ferry dressed – of course – in jeans.
