Cyclone miracle
As Cyclone Debbie (left) battered Queensland, one woman had another crisis on her hands. Expectant mother Suzanne’s contractions were two minutes apart when she called for an ambulance, but with trees down and the storm raging outside, Queensland Ambulance Service workers couldn’t get her to a hospital. Graduate paramedic Pamela Price (inset, left) said they had a Code One baby on their hands and delivery was imminent. So they took Suzanne and husband Tim to the Whitsunday Ambulance Station at Cannonvale, where baby Billiana arrived “safe and dry” at 4.20am on March 29.
