In concert with courage

The Afghanistan Women’s Orchestra has returned to Kabul after a triumphant European tour. In a country where all music was banned under the Taliban and women are restricted by rigid cultural values, these 35 musicians risk their lives and their positions in their families and communities to perform. The orchestra’s founder, Afghanistan-born Australian Ahmad Sarmast, hopes to bring the musicians to Australia in 2018.
