WESTWORLD

Foxtel’s Emmy-nominated western sci-fi series is back for a second season after leaving fans (and internet forums) buzzing in 2016. In season one we journeyed into the Westworld theme park, set in the not too distant future and modelled off America’s Wild West, where for more than 30 years guests have paid exorbitant amounts to be immersed in the theme park’s experiences. It’s here that android “hosts”, virtually indistinguishable from humans, allow guests to live out their wildest fantasies with all the action carefully scripted and executed by a team of programmers working behind the scenes. It’s a meaty show to wrap your head around and the series’ multilayered puzzle kept fans guessing as it culminated in the season one finale robot rebellion, but the show is brilliantly addictive. With the exceptional cast, including Anthony Hopkins, Evan Rachel Wood and James Marsden (together, top right) returning, and the robot rebellion dominating the action of season two, we’re in for a wild ride.

Westworld season two STARTS APRIL 23, EXPRESS FROM THE US AT 11AM, WITH A PRIMETIME ENCORE AT 8.30PM ON FOXTEL’S SHOWCASE.
