Easter chalk

-

Materials

Plaster of Paris (available from hardware stores) Poster paint

Water

A jar for mixing Stirrer

A silicon mould (we bought ours from Spotlight)

This is a really simple way to make chalk, just mix equal quantities of water with plaster of Paris.

1 Pour water into a jar and then add enough paint to get the desired colour. One tablespoon of paint per half cup of plaster is a good rule of thumb, but different paints will deliver different results.

2 Add the plaster of Paris and stir until smooth. It may look like it is still separated but that’s okay.

3 Pour it into a mould and wait for it to set. The chalk should set within a few hours but it can take a few days to fully harden and dry. As soon as it is set you can pop it out of the mould and put it somewhere safe to dry.
